FC2026 Day 11 Moordenaarspoort to Brosterlea
We got going at 05:07. The exit from Moordenaarspoort is quite easy.
There were a number of wet patches. SJ was in front of us, hit a rock and came down pretty hard, hitting her head on a rock and injuring her shoulder. She got up after a while and continued riding, but we saw that she was not realy OK. The navigation was pretty easy and the only real problem was crossing the Holspruit, which was flowing strongly. It was quite tretseous and resulted in very wet shoes! We had a number of streches on nice public roads with a good surface. We got into Kranskop just after 09:00. There we had lunch and I put on some dry socks. SJ phoned the race director who advised that she should remain there for observation. Our stop was quite long at 59 minutes.
So now it was me and Tilla on our own. I have done the navigation with George Wienekus in 2014 so I was confident that we will get it right on our own. We followed the narratives carefully and made good progress, keeping to the route. There were two sections where we had to go through farms and we managed that without any problems.
Once past Jamestown, we were on good district roads right up to Brosterlea, where we arrived at 16:00.
Data for the day: time 11:04:34; distance 92.24 km; climbing 1,228 meters
